Decline the work
Cleanest financially, most expensive commercially. The client remembers who was available when it mattered.
Say yes to the extra client work without adding payroll. Our partner design studio takes your overflow through one queue, with a dedicated project manager, 48h average delivery and a flat monthly fee.

Agency demand spikes when several clients approve work at once, then drops before a permanent hire can pay back. A studio subscription turns that fixed payroll risk into execution capacity you can pause, while your team keeps creative direction and the client relationship.
Cleanest financially, most expensive commercially. The client remembers who was available when it mattered.
The team works late, quality slips somewhere, and the cost surfaces in retention later in the year.
A permanent salary to solve a temporary spike, and months of recruiting before the first deliverable.
A flat fee only protects your margin if you use it. Put the monthly fee, the work you route, your client billing and your internal handling side by side, using your last three months of work. That gives you a cost per deliverable you can defend before you resell it.
A flat monthly fee is a known number: €1,399.90 excl. VAT on Unlimited, €2,099.90 on Scale. It is the only input in this calculation that does not move.
Effective cost per deliverable is the fee divided by what you actually route. An underused plan is expensive. A busy one gets cheaper with every request.
Per project or per retainer, cost per deliverable falls as throughput rises. Bill hourly and you penalize yourself for working with a faster studio.
Briefing, quality review and client presentation still take your team’s time. This is where the optimistic version breaks. Count it.
Margin per deliverable = client price, minus the monthly fee divided by deliverables routed that month, minus internal handling time. Run it on real client work, not a projection. If it does not clear at your real throughput, a subscription is not your answer, and it is better to know before the scoping call.
A hire protects embedded context but turns variable client revenue into fixed payroll. Freelancers flex, but each one is another calendar to manage. A studio subscription flexes too, and still needs your team to brief and review. Compare all three on your real peak and quiet months.
| Criteria | Hiring a designer | Freelancers | Partner studio |
|---|---|---|---|
| Commitment | Permanent, with notice periods and charges | Per project | Monthly by default, pause or cancel anytime |
| Time to first deliverable | Months of recruiting and onboarding | As soon as they are free | A scoping call, then straight into production |
| Cost in a quiet month | Full salary | Nothing | Pause, or cancel |
| Cost in a peak month | Overtime, or another hire | More freelancers to find and brief | Same flat fee, or Scale for two requests in parallel |
| Range | One profile | One profile per freelancer | Branding, decks, web, UX/UI, motion, 3D |
| White label | Yes, they are your staff | Depends on each contract | Ask the studio on the scoping call |
| Risk profile | Fixed cost against variable revenue | Variable cost, one person’s availability | Flat cost you can pause against variable revenue |
Hiring wins when the work is continuous, senior, and needs to sit inside your strategic conversations. Freelancers win for a one-off specialist job. Most agencies that get this right keep senior creative direction in-house and move execution throughput outside.
Scale fits agencies routing work for several clients at once: two requests in parallel for €2,099.90 a month excl. VAT. Unlimited, at €1,399.90, fits a steady single stream of overflow work.

Start with ScaleSeveral brands, teams or markets, specific billing or more parallel requests: the studio scopes a plan around your load.
Scope a custom planPlans are sold, delivered and invoiced by our partner studio. Monthly billing by default: pause or cancel anytime. Prices excl. VAT. Longer commitments lower the monthly rate.
Ask the partner studio on the scoping call: it tells you whether white-label delivery is available on your plan and on what terms. Design Scaling only forwards your request.
You do. You own the source files, in their native formats, so you can hand them to your client under your own contract.
Yes. Several brands are supported on every plan, so one account can carry all your clients. If you run several teams or markets, the studio scopes a custom plan with you on a call.
Average delivery is 48h. Decks typically take 2-3 days, logos and identity work 1-2 business days, motion and 3D 3-5 days. On Scale, two requests move in parallel.
Unlimited, on every plan. Your client asks for changes, you pass them on, and your dedicated project manager keeps them moving.
Yes. Billing is monthly by default and you can pause or cancel anytime. For a steady pipeline, a 3, 6 or 12 month commitment cuts the monthly rate by 5%, 15% or 20%.
Send your request: Design Scaling forwards it to its partner studio. The studio replies within one business day.
